Preparation

Can you make sheet pan cookies ahead of time?

Yes, these can be made a day or two in advance. Store in an airtight container at room temperature until ready to serve.

You can also press the dough into the pan the night before and keep it covered in the refrigerator. Bake it the next day when you’re ready.

What kind of chocolate chips to use for sheet pan cookies?

We used semisweet chocolate chips for this recipe because it cuts back on the sweetness a tad but you could also use milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips or white chocolate chips.

How do you know when sheet pan cookies are done?

You want the edges to be golden brown and the middle of the pan to be set. Try not to over bake them as you want the cookie bars to stay soft for enjoying. They will also cook a tad more after removing from the oven so keep them on the under baked side.
